Off the Streets and Online…
Streetlevel, Centrepoint’s educational website was launched last night by the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP. It was written, and designed by six young people who have experience of being homeless, or who volunteer to educate other young people about homelessness related issues.
None of the six young people who were involved with the site had any experience of web design until Spex agreed to advise on the project. Advice and training was offered but the young people had complete control over the finished article. Spex undertook the project and host the site free of charge.

The site is aimed at 14 - 25 year olds who are facing homelessness, or who have friends in a housing crisis. The site features five channels:
- Home Truths: smashes the stereotypes that homeless people face.
- Real life stories: homeless young people tell it how it is.
- Advice and information: The first point of call for young people at risk of homelessness.
- Training and employment: the low-down on the education, training and employment options open to homeless young people.
- Who wants to be Homelessness: quiz hosted by Chris Tarrant. See if you really know what homelessness is and how it happens.
"Streetlevel is about breaking down homelessness stereotypes. It gives young people an accurate insight into what it’s like, why it happens and what to do if they find themselves in that situation"
