NOTES TO EDITORS
Sony Vaio PCVRS602 and PCVRS604 Desktop PC's in detail
The Sony Vaio PCVRS602 and PCVRS604 desktop pc's are distinguished by different processors and hard disks. The PCV-RS602 has a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 CPU and a 160GB hard disk, whereas the PCV-RS604 has a 3.4GHz Pentium 4 and a 200GB hard disk.
In both cases, the processor is performance-enhanced by Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology, allowing HT-aware software to treat the CPU more like two discrete processors. This increased parallelism means faster overall performance, which can be especially advantageous with intensive tasks like video editing and image manipulation.
More performance enhancements
Both Sony VAIO R600 series desktop pc's feature 512MB of extremely fast double data rate (DDR) memory operating at 400MHz rather than the conventional 333MHz. In conjunction with the 800MHz front-side bus (FSB) – fully supported by the Intel 865PE motherboard chipset – this means consistently superior performance, ideal for multimedia applications. The hard disks have high 7,200 rpm spindle speeds to help keep the data flowing smoothly regardless of the task. Potent AGP 8x ATI Radeon 9600 graphics with a full 128MB of dedicated VRAM complete the picture.Dual RW advantage
Sony Vaio RS600 Series desktop pc's are distinguished by having a DVD burner capable of reading and writing in both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW formats. This can be an advantage when creating DVDs intended for playback on domestic DVD players, since the DVD-R format offers the widest and best compatibility with DVD decks. When it comes to archiving data or building a photo library, the DVD+RW format comes into its own, allowing true multi-session recording, where the same disk is written to again and again, almost as if it were a hard drive. Better still, the drive offers high-speed DVD burning up to 8x, not to mention 24x CD-R and 16x CD-RW write speeds. Four into one – multi-format flash memory support The integrated flash memory card reader supports Memory Stick/MS Pro format cards, as well as both Type I and II Compact Flash cards and SmartMedia cards. As with DVD disc formats, the more supported, the better.Companion Pack for VAIO
The new Sony VAIO desktop pc's gain an additional dimension from a specially extended software bundle. In addition to the latest versions of Sony’s exclusive VAIO applications like PictureGear Studio, SonicStage and DVGate, users also get the Adobe Companion Pack, only available with VAIO systems. This features the new Premiere Standard edition video editor, Photoshop Elements 2.0 for still image editing, Photoshop Album 2.0 SE for image management, version 6 of the widely-used Adobe Acrobat document reader, and Acrobat Elements 1.0. Elements enhances the Acrobat document reader by enabling productivity applications (ie. Microsoft Office etc..) to save files in Adobe’s PDF format for effortless sharing. You make it a Sony
