Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder captures broadcast quality video

3 CCD Sony DCR-HC1000 Camcorder features high quality optics and surround ready audio

Berlin, 1st July 2004- The superior quality of video cameras used by TV and newsgathering crews in the UK & around the world is now available to everyone with the new 3-CCD Sony HandyCam DCR-HC1000 camcorder.

The broadcast quality performance of this versatile "prosumer" camcorder has been made possible by three key picture quality features: 3 CCDs for maximum light sensitivity and colour reproduction, the optimum optical system of the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens and Active Lens Image Stabilizer technology for ensuring a steady shot in handheld conditions.

Sony DCR-HC1000: The first surround sound camcorder

The Sony DCR-HC1000 is the first ever surround sound camcorder, with four-channel sound when equipped with a four-channel surround microphone.

Sony DCR:HC1000 camcorder: "High-end image & sound quality"

“Our new Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder has all the hallmarks of a broadcast camera, bringing high-end image and sound quality to a new audience and is equipped with a unique Multi-Angle Grip,” said Nicolas Barendson, General Manager, Personal Video, Sony Digital Imaging Europe. “This 3-CCD Sony camcorder is packed with professional features but is compact enough to fit right in your hand and the DCR-HC1000 is styled for the high end of the consumer market with maximum ease of use and a professional, black design. With the addition of four channel surround sound recording, this camera will make your movies sound as great as they look.”

3CCD Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder improves video resolution & reduces picture noise

By using three 1/4.7-inch CCDs for image capture, the Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder provides a leap in picture quality. The improvements include a high video resolution of 3X 1.07 MegaPixels, reduced picture noise even in very low-light environments and vividly accurate colour reproduction. The advantage of the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens lies in the proven high quality of the optics and the special coating which reduces reflections in the lens and distortions in the captured image.

Sony DCR HC1000: Stable, sharp images

Sony’s inclusion of the Active Lens Image Stabilizer feature means that any motion caused by handheld use or camera shake is reduced before the image is captured by the 3-CCD system, allowing the Sony DCR-HC1000 to provide a sharper picture. Other professional attributes of the Sony DCR-HC1000 include AE Shift to adjust the automatic exposure levels and a Zebra Pattern display in the viewfinder or 2.5-inch Hybrid LCD monitor to warn of over exposure. The camcorder also benefits from true 16:9 widescreen capture, a manual focus ring and 12x optical zoom.

Sony DCR-HC1000: First camcorder to feature 4 channel surround sound

For the first time ever, you can add another dimension to your production by recording in four-channel sound with the optional Sony ECM-CQP1 surround microphone, exclusively designed for the Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder. Easily transferred to a Sony VAIO system using the bundled Click to DVD software, the audio can be converted to full 5.1-channel surround sound for use in DVD authoring or playback on Home Theatre systems like Sony WEGA Theatre. Available separately, the Sony ECM-CQP1 microphone can also use its Wide Stereo Mode to record true-to-life voices on any Sony Handycam equipped with a stereo microphone terminal.

Sony DCR-HC1000 Touch Panel LCD

Sony knows how much customers value ease of use, so the DCR-HC1000 camcorder has a versatile Touch Panel LCD, featuring a logical and streamlined Active Menu graphical user interface and a second record button on the LCD frame. A built-in flash, intelligent accessory shoe and Sony Memory Stick Duo slot for storage all serve to add to the attractive feature set of this high quality camcorder.

DCR-HC1000 accessories

To add to its range of accessories, Sony has launched the LCS-HC1000, a black soft carrying case that protects the DCR-HC1000 camcorder from dust and damage. Convenient for carrying as either a shoulder bag or waist pouch, the case is made of luxurious black leather and includes a double zipper for easy access to the camcorder and an inner pocket for storing batteries.

The Sony DCR-HC1000 camcorder will be available in the UK & throughout Europe in September 2004.
