New Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO 2GB USB storage media device the size of a business card
The first Sony Micro Vault to be based on hard disk drive technology
Paris, 23 June, 2004 – Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) today announced an exciting addition to the Micro Vault family – the Sony USD-2G (USD2G) MICRO VAULT PRO.
The Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO is the first in the Micro Vault family range to come in card format. The unit incorporates a unique swivel connector that plugs straight into a computer’s USB port to enable users to quickly and easily drag and drop files to the device. No cables or driver software are needed when using the Sony USD-2G. When a task is complete the swivel connector folds away leaving a sleek, aesthetically pleasing, metallic device that can be slipped neatly into a pocket.
Bundled with Sony’s unique Auto Sync file synchronisation software, USD-2G users are able to automatically synchronise the contents of a designated folder on their computer with the MICRO VAULT PRO, so they always have their latest files with them. File changes made on both the PC and the Sony USD-2G can be synchronized with the version control function automatically saving up to 10 generations of file changes to help avoid files being mistakenly overwritten.
“The Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO offers an attractive cost-per-gigabyte storage solution in an ultra-portable device. Business professionals and home PC users alike will find this unique product a great way to store, transfer and share large files such as high resolution pictures and video files,” commented Olivier Schwartz, European Marketing Manager at Sony’s IT Media department. “The Sony USD-2G’s 2 gigabyte size can hold over 3,500 two mega pixel pictures and approximately 50 minutes of DVD quality video - equivalent to 1,400 floppy disks worth of space!”
The Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO 2Gb USB storage media device offers high-speed data transfer rates, in compliance with Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0), allowing for a comfortable operation of 80 Mbps (approximately 10MB/s) for both read and write functions - ideal for downloading larger files. The transfer of information can be monitored by an LED function that uses different coloured lights to indicate what operation the Micro Vault Pro is performing.
The Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO USB storage media device is compatible with all Windows-based operating systems making it a useful and convenient office tool in today’s windows dominated environment.
The Sony USD-2G MICRO VAULT PRO will be available in Europe from July 2004.
