Sony Wins 4 2004/2005 EISA Awards - More than any other company
EISA Award wins for DVD recorder, Car Stereo, Digital Camera & SACD player
Berlin, 16 August 2004 - Sony Europe will be collecting a total of four European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) awards at a pre-Photokina ceremony in Cologne on September 27 – an achievement unparalleled, this year, by any other manufacturer.
Sony’s four EISA 2004 awards are:
- 'Digital Video Recorder of the Year Award' for the advanced technology Sony RDR-HX1000 (RDRHX1000)
- 'Mobile Electronics Innovation of the Year Award' for the Sony CDX-M9900 (CDXM9900) with its high-resolution, TV-style display
- 'Digital Pocket Camera of the Year Award' for the super-slim Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T1 (DSCT1) digital camera
- 'Audio Player of the Year Award' went to the versatile Sony SCD-XA3000ES (SCDXA3000ES).
With panel members drawn from over 50 audio, video, photo and mobile electronics magazines in 20 countries, the EISA awards offer a valuable insight into Europe’s current consumer electronics scene. Once again, they’ve highlighted the cutting-edge creative thinking that is central to Sony’s global success.
Sony RDR-HX1000 DVD Recorder - European Digital Video Recorder of the Year 2004/5
“Finally it is possible to record in much better quality than the average DVD.” That’s the emphatic verdict of EISA judges impressed by the Sony RDR-HX1000 DVD recorder’s 15 megabits per second recording capability, rather than the standard 9 megabits common to other DVD recorders in the marketplace. The Sony RDR-HX1000 DVD recorder makes ultra high quality recordings – boosted by Dynamic Variable Bit Rate technology – that can be transferred to a wide range of formats including DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW.
Citing the Sony RDR-HX1000’s easy-to-use thumbnail pictures as a great solution to the “ever-lasting archiving problem”, EISA experts described the RDR-HX1000 DVD recorder as an “amazing piece of equipment for the home environment.”
Sony CDX-M9900 MP3 tuner- European Mobile Electronics Innovation 2004/5
Multimedia goes well and truly on the road with the Sony CDX-M9900 – the car industry’s very first, conventionally-sized head unit to feature a composite audio/video input for the monitoring of DVD, TV, camcorder and still camera images – even a PlayStation. The composite audio/video input is a feature of the Sony CDX-M9900 that clearly caught the judges’ imagination. “The front panel is graced by a high resolution, full colour LCD-TFT which is more than just a way of providing the user with data, graphics and animation,” enthused the EISA panel.
The Sony CDX-M9900’s smart controls adapt conventional TV formats to fit the 32.000 colour display in the best way possible.
Rear-seat entertainment systems can also be monitored ‘up-front’ – a great idea for keeping an eye on the kids’ road-trip viewing programme.
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T1 - European Digital Pocket Camera of the Year 2004/5
The Sony DSC-T1 digital camera’s true pocket size, Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom, 5 million pixel CCD and roomy, 2.5 inch hybrid colour monitor are just some of the reasons EISA panel members summed up the Cyber-shot DSC-T1 digital camera as “a very appealing choice”.The DSC-T1’s “elegant look and sturdy metal exterior” of what is the slimmest addition yet to the Sony Cyber-shot range also won the panellists’ admiration.
Sony SCD-XA3000ES - European Audio Player of the Year 2004/5
The Sony SCD-XA3000ES is “an all-rounder that plays all kinds of music equally well,” said EISA panellists. And they were not only impressed by the Sony SCD-XA3000ES’s “sturdy chassis and solid, mechanically stable transport”. The judges were equally complimentary about the SCD-XA3000ES’s ability to play Super Audio CDs – a factor “that really lifts this model into the high end area”.They concluded that the Sony SCD-XA3000ES is “impressive and well-constructed – the best available CD / SACD player in this price range”.
