NEW SONY DPP-FP30 DYE-SUBLIMATION PRINTER GIVES REAL PHOTO QUALITY

Forget the photo lab when you can transform your digital images into quality photo prints at home

Sony has the solution in the form of the DPP-FP30 (DPPFP30), a digital dye-sublimation printer that produces touch-dry prints of real photo quality. With the Sony DPP-FP30 printer you have complete control over the process, printing as many photos as you like, when you want them and all from the comfort of your home. Sony includes 40 postcard-sized sheets and a colour cartridge so you can start printing right away. What’s more you don’t even need a computer, as the Sony DPP-FP30 is PictBridge* compatible and lets you print directly from your camera when connected by a USB cable.

DPP-FP30: Home printing power

The Sony DPP-FP30 printer offers a simple and affordable way to print high quality pictures at home. The elegant design and compact size of the printer will make it attractive to any style-conscious consumer while the 300 dpi print quality ensures stunning results.

Real photo quality pictures are literally minutes away as the Sony DPP-FP30 has a print speed of approx. 90 seconds (or approx. 120 seconds when using PictBridge*). The postcard sized print sheets (10 x15 cm) come complete with colour cartridges in media packs of 40 (SVM-F40P) and 80 sheets (SVM-F80P) and will be available at the same time as the printer, in October 2004.

DPP-FP30: Print at your leisure

The Sony DPP-FP30 really makes home printing a breeze. Just hook up your PictBridge compatible camera, such as any of the latest Sony Cybershot digital cameras. Select your images on the camera’s LCD monitor and choose to output touch-dry single or multiple prints. Or download the images to your Windows PC, select your images using the supplied PC software and simply press print. You’ll find you have richly coloured, photo-quality prints in no time at all.

About the Sony DPP-FP30

The Sony DPP-FP30 is a digital printer that uses the dye-sublimation print process to produce high quality (300dpi) colour prints. It can be used as a standalone device thanks to the implementation of the industry standard PictBridge* technology or in conjunction with a PC. It can connect to any PictBridge-compatible camera or a PC using a USB cable.

The in-tray of the DPP-FP30 can handle 20 postcard sized print sheets at a time and is able to print a touch-dry, full-colour borderless print in approx. 90 seconds. When using the PictBridge method, prints are ready in approx. 120 seconds.

Coming ready supplied with print paper media and a colour cartridge for up to 40 prints, the DPP-FP30 is attractively priced for consumers while the stylish design means the compact printer will be at home in any environment.

The Sony DPP-FP30 will be available in the UK and Europe from October 2004.

About the technology

Dye-sublimation is a high quality colour print process that produces output that is much closer to true photographic prints than ordinary photo-inkjet printers. The three colour process (with 256 levels in each), produces output at a stunning 300dpi resolution, with the added attraction of instantly touch-dry prints. What’s more, a special coating ensures that the pictures will be protected for about 100 years.

About the media

To accompany the launch of the Sony DPP-FP30, Sony has produced two packs of print media. SVM-F40P is a package of 40 postcard-sized (10x15 cm) print sheets and a colour cartridge while SVM-F80P is a package of two colour cartridges and 80 print sheets. The SVM-F40P package is included with the DPP-FP30 as standard.
